REAL Measles

Measles (also known as morbilli, English measles, or rubeola — not to be confused with rubella) is an infection of the respiratory system caused by a virus, specifically a paramyxovirus of the genus Morbillivirus. Morbilliviruses, like other paramyxoviruses, are enveloped, single-stranded, negative-sense RNA viruses. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a generalized, maculopapular, erythematous skin rash, the symptom of which measles is best known.

And yes, #bbKrystal was down with REAL measles.
She have been having fever since beginning of the month. Fever have been rocket high at 39 degree and lowest at 37 degrees on and off for almost 2 weeks. Was very worried as fever have yet to go down if no medication is taken. Went to GP, suspected dengue. Referred to Polyclinic for blood test and her platelets count were low. Go back to GP again, GP asked to go home and next few days to go for blood test again.

It really hurts to see her lil tiny finger been pricked to many times.

Her fever still goes on.........

During the weekend of 7 and 8 Sept, its Creston and her own birthday bash.
No signs of recovering. So we decided to go ahead with her birthday bash but with some changes of plan.

Birthday post will be the next post.

8 Sept, fever still lingering around..

9th Sept, we decided to bring her to her own PD, Dr Darryl Lim from Kinderclinic.
Brought her to do a blood test and to her PD.

Still, nothing is been concluded.

During her period of fever, she still eating and drinking well. Playing well except her tireness. So nobody could really see whats wrong with her.

2 days passed..

11 Sept, her fever shot a sky high of 40.4 degrees. Oh dear.. so worried tat we brought her back to Dr Darryl at his clinic at Mt Alvernia instead. After a short talk to the PD, we decided to admit her instead. Gave her a suppository and went ahead with the hospital admission, blood test, phlegm test. Send her up to the kids ward, prepared her for the blood withdrawal and phlegm withdrawal.

I can still clearly remembered the scene of #bbKrystal been pinned down by the nurses, wrapped her hand up, and poking in the tube to withdraw the blood. Keep calming myself down telling myself that i must be strong to be strong for my lil one. In the room with the lil one and yet i couldnt cuddle her when she cries, couldnt really help her to ease the pain, its very heart breaking. All the scenerio of her crying crying and crying till fell aslp is carved into my mind..

Her little hand with the tube for drip.

So.. she was warded for 3D2N.
But another good news was that the fever was now almost gone. 6hrs with no medication after the suppository, the fever did not come back. Pray hard it will not come back at all.

Hugged her to bed as she was so scare of everyone.
Mummy had to be confined onto her baby crib and daddy to the side sofa.

8hrs passed.. No signs of fever..
12 hrs passed.. No signs of fever..

Thanks god for protecting my little girl.

Report was out and mostly negative for the dengue, UTI, bacterial, viruses..
Except for 1, the measles test..

Next day with her "handphone" on both hands to prevent her from pulling the tube out.

No fever but still, we were advised to stay for another night to monitor her.

"hello" Krystal how are you?
By now, she is already playing after her fever subsides.

We upgraded the room to a single room for the last night as we doesnt wan any disturbance from the "neighbours"
Got hold of the Mickey mouse Theme room which really cheers the lil ones and the adults up alil.

Dr Darryl came to checked on her and feels tat she is fit to be discharged the next day after his final check the next day. As usual, mummy hugged lil one to slp and this time round, daddy have a single sofa bed to himself.

Dr Darryl came in quite early the next morning, check on her and viola~ she is ok to be discharged!
how happy we were! Had breakfast, pack up and off we go!

Upon reaching home, had a call from Dr Darryl to confirmed that she is having real measles. oh dear. and real measles are dangerous as it spreads and usually its been spread! dunno who spread the illness to her!! informed all those whom she had contact with the previous days/weeks that if they had similar symptoms to go to the doc immediately.

Luckily, by now, she is fully recovered except for the scars. Hope that those will fade away soon!

*Ps: I would like to thank Emily and Kimberly godmothers for coming to visit my lil precious when she is down!
